Dolby Atmos Mixing in Manchester — 7.1.4 Home Entertainment Certified Mix Suite
80 HERTZ Studios is Manchester’s commercial Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 mix suite, calibrated on-site by a Dolby engineer to Home Entertainment (HE) specification and available now on flexible dry hire. The studio is located at The Sharp Project on Thorp Road, five minutes from Manchester city centre and twenty from MediaCityUK, with free secure parking and on-site catering for visiting clients.
Calibrated for Apple Music, Netflix, Disney+ and every HE platform
The room is built to Dolby’s Home Entertainment specification — the same spec used by Apple Music, Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video and HBO MAX — so every mix made here translates reliably across spatial audio on headphones, Atmos soundbars, TVs, home cinemas and binaural down-mix. Final calibration to HE reference level, including sub alignment, bass management and speaker delay compensation, was completed by a Dolby engineer.
Genelec ‘Ones’ 7.1.4 point-source monitoring
Monitoring is a full Genelec GLM-managed system: three 8351 coaxial ‘Ones’ on LCR, four 8341 ‘Ones’ on the surrounds (Ls, Rs, Lrs, Rrs), four 8340s on the top surrounds (Ltf, Rtf, Ltr, Rtr) and a Genelec 7380 sub-bass module for LFE. The full monitoring, console and outboard list is published on our equipment page. The Atmos signal path runs through Pro Tools Ultimate HDX, Avid MTRX, Avid Sync X, Lavry and Lynx converters, and the Dolby Atmos Renderer.
Dry hire — walk in, plug in, mix
The Atmos suite is available on flexible dry hire by the day, week or block-booked run for long-form television and film projects. Bring your own engineer, sessions and laptop, or book an in-house engineer or assistant. Source Connect Pro, SessionLink and Zoom are fitted throughout for remote producer, director and talent attendance — we routinely run sessions linked live to Los Angeles, New York, Mumbai and Seoul.
One facility, every format
Alongside the Atmos room, 80 HERTZ operates two ADR sound stages, two voice-over studios, the 48-input Neve Genesys music room and the largest ribbon and valve microphone collection in the North of England — a genuine one-stop audio post and music facility.
